Return to Important Bryophyte Habitats

8. Oak Trees

Species in this group are also found on other hardwoods on upland, drier sites. The plants grow on the wet side of tree, not necessarily on the north side of the tree. There are several interesting small bryophytes to look for, such as Frullania bolanderi. Very little Isothecium occurs in these trees. The Orthotrichum species are mainly confined to outer branches.

Antitrichia californica.

Dendroalsia abietina.

Homalothecium fulgescens.

Homalothecium nuttallii.

Neckera menziesii.

Orthotrichum consimile.

Orthotrichum lyellii.

Porella navicularis.
